There are not a whole lot of words to express how much I love Leif. From the moment I pushed him into this world, he has been the apple of my eye. Sure, there are moments… but most of the time I am just so in love with watching him be him. It is so inspiring to watch him develop. In the last year, he has learned to walk, run, climb, jump, balance on all sorts of things, and tease. And boy can he tease.
I’m going to keep this sweet and simple…These are some of the things I want to remember about Leif right now…in all his two year old glory–
Leif is obsessed with buses. He cries for them all day long.
He is also obsessed with balls–the other night he insisted that I carry a rugby, 2 soccer balls, and a four square ball up to his bed. Any time he sees a basketball hoop, he must practice his shot.
He also adores Sochi. When she is out of sight, he cries, “SOOOOOCCCCHHHIIII” or “where’s sochi?”
He says “What’s that?” which is more like “Was dat?” about 3 million and a half times per day. Inquisitive.
The boy can dance. Any time we are at some type of circle time and we start singing–he’s in the middle breaking it down.
He’s always always gooey. I look around at all the kids with clean faces and I think, “HOW ON EARTH DOES THAT MOTHER DO THAT????!!!???”
He’s stoked when Dad gets home from work.
He gives kisses that would make the coldest heart melt.
He loves himself some mama’s milk still.
He has an iron will… if he wants something, he finds a way to get it. I told him he couldn’t have a peanut butter sandwich for dinner one night so he pulled his chair over to the fridge, got out the ingredients, put them on the counter and made it himself. Fair enough. I let him have a peanut butter sandwich for dinner that night.
His favorite foods are dates, nut butter, bread, smoothies, grapes, and cheerios.
He has ALL of my heart.
